Message From The President

Dear BOMA Members,

It’s hard to believe that 2007 has come and gone.  Looking back it seems like yesterday that I began my new role as the BOMA Nashville President.  It was certainly a rewarding and enjoyable year that included spending time with members, getting to know new members, and meeting new guest speakers. 

It was a pleasure working with the Board of Directors and interacting with the various Committee Chairpersons and their committee members.  The board members and committee members were behind the scenes working diligently to make good decisions and to represent our membership in the most professional manner.  I can honestly say that I believe our association is one of the very best in Nashville.

As the year progressed, our chapter accomplished the following:

• Membership grew by adding 18 new members, 9 Principal members and 9 Allied members.
• Participation with the 2007 Experience Exchange Report proved to be a huge success.  BOMA International stated there were over 4,500 buildings across North America and over 850,000,000 square feet of office space that was represented in 2007.
• The second annual TOBY event was held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in April with five local winners.  Two of the local winners advanced to the Southern Region TOBY competition.
• Our Allied Committee held two events that were well attended by membership.
• The September annual golf tournament raised over $9,000.
• A BOMI Real Property Administrator (RPA) class was held in September, which allowed members to obtain credit toward their BOMI RPA designation. 
• Four scholarships were awarded, one to a BOMA member, and three to BOMA families.

During 2007, we had great attendance at our monthly membership meetings, which also provided an opportunity for networking.  We were enlightened and gained useful information regarding the real estate industry from our guest speakers.  BOMA Nashville was also well represented at the BOMA Winter Business Meeting, Southern Region Conference, and the BOMA International Conference.  Our association’s participation with our local annual real estate events, the “Economic Forum” and “The Connection”, assisted in making both of those events successful. 

As we look forward to 2008, please support the new officers, directors, and the new committee chairs.  I encourage you to become more involved by volunteering to serve on one of the committees, or if you have other talents that you would like to contribute, please make your wishes be known.  Becoming more actively involved with BOMA Nashville will be one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have.
